I have the 3.1 textbook from last year and I was just wondering if anybody out there has heard about any particular changes made......... I am hoping I can carry on using my textbook from last term.
Thanks

I am not sure about it :)
but one thing is clear that you don't read Student Accountant Mag :-|

Were you trying to be helpful?
Oh and btw... not each and every little change to the syllabus for each paper is detailed in SA Mag. Its wasn't the examinable documents I was asking about. But it doesn't matter now because I have decided not to do 3.1 anyway

Their is not much change although their is a change but a little i think they included some ISAs as well as some professional ethical standards but also on other hand they excluded some standards too. Previous August issue(Aug 2006) also contain booklet of intro to new scheme titled as "The new ACCA Qualification Syllabus" and that was very helpful to understand the new scheme paper criteria............i think you should mail to students@accaglobal.com to ask them to deliver that issue of mag.......may be they will be to despatch you
By the way i want to ask you(if you feel easy to tell here)that what marks you got in previous attempt in 3.1

Hi Amir,
I got 45 marks with a random attempt. I am sure I could pass it now if I tried a bit harder but I am just put off retaking it because it's not really so much fun and I dont plan to become an auditor later on. 3.3 has a better passrate and so I would like to do that one. But just out of interest, is it possible to become an auditor without having done 3.1 (ie is ACCA membership more important than the choice of papers sat?)

Hi Sheba
You can't become a registered auditor without completing 3.1 but if you wanted to complete it after membership - you can.
Personally I think you are mad to study a whole new syllabus if you only missed it by 5 marks, you could easily do some more question practice and pick those marks up.
I found the examiners articles on how to answer her type of questions invaluable and I'm sure if you studied those, used her format and did loads of question practice (try and do all the q's in the exam kit) you would easily pass in December!
Just my personal opinion!

i heard from my lecturer that the new 3.1 is a nitemare.. the new examiner is a lady in her 30's .he advise not to take tat paper but to return to take it after passing out becos the examiner say something will is frightening... i forgot wat she say. but it kindof like she going to mix up every thing in the exam question

Yh geyser the very fact that 3.1 is risky has made me decide not to do 3.1 this time and do 3.3 instead. Thanks for ur input :-)
