I am from pakistan if any other paki member can help me about the current orientation of corporates in giving jobs to CA and ACCA students ....
It would help me in selection of degree.
Very Thank You.
myACCA - 01 Jan 2006, 08:29 am
Jobs are based on experience and skill specially in Accountant's life both matter a lot.So never care about any particular degree and focus on gaining as much as possible good expertise in your work.It assures good job not only degree. But i would say accountancy degree has very little weight in the market but all the weight lies in your experience + skill of work.
Thank You.

I am not from pakistan but can say for sure than corporates demant skill not degree as myACCA pointed.

ACCA holds good repute about payscale. But experience of work counts prime.
Mohsin_Ali - 02 Jan 2006, 10:44 pm
Siraj you are bit confued about choosing right degree and i understand your situation.CA qualified persons have high payscale but keep in mind its not merely because of that they are CA.But because of various reasons
i) Well familarity with local tax and law culture.
ii) They have passed intense situations during qualification (ICAP is rude).
iii) They are more experienced than ACCA persons to be eligible for membership (4 years articleship).
iv) They(ICAP) have already well set monoply.
v) ACCA is still in infancy stages in Pakistan.
But all above quoted points do not declare that CA is preferable over ACCA.

no dear Mohsin_Ali you are totally wrong,ACCA is recognised in 165 countries and C.A is recognised only in Middle East, and in Pakistan ACCA is capturing markets from C.A because in ACCA new rules and some thing news in ACCA...............................................ACCA is best one from C.A.........

Mohsin actually emphasized on CA strong hold in pakistan.
But last line

is worth to understand.

CA has a legal authority and monoply in Pakistan too but in case of internal auditors or consultancy your experience will metter.
Mohsin_Ali - 16 Jan 2006, 12:50 am
What is it legal authority of ?
shahid_fss - 16 Jan 2006, 09:04 pm
Only an ACA (ICAP) or a firm of accountants under leadership of ACA(ICAP) can perform legal (external) audit of a company in PAKISTAN. No other CA has authority to perform such audit.

well i think ACCA qualified member can start its own practise firm and this i where its recognised. is it so?
nafeesa - 27 Jan 2006, 07:29 am
Yes becauase SEC recognise ACCA

Both get jobs but CA has some distinction in pakistan which is about to end in next some years.STICK WITH ACCCA as it is emerging and getting well repute in pakistani sector.

According to companies ordinance only an ACA (ICAP) or a group of chartered accountants lead by ACA (ICAP) is authorised to run a chartered accountant firm.
This is where the question of "legality" and "authority" rises. Which are both reserved for ICAP and ICMAP in Pakistan. Only these two things make difference in ACCA and CA talking about career.

I have gone through lots of the forums regarding this battle but still confused tht which qualification is best in pakistan.and what is the percentage of difference in salaries of both these deegrees
thanks
shahid_fss - 12 Nov 2006, 08:06 pm
Salaries are only for ACCA's because ACCA's cant run a firm in pakistan without becoming ACA's
While
CA's dont get salary (some are exceptional because they have the choise not to run a firm) because most of them run their own firms or become partners in other already running firms.
As for as 'best' is concerned, ACCA = CA
The views of Pakistani CAs toward ACCA or CIMA etc are not mature and professional.
junaid razzaq - 21 Nov 2006, 01:24 pm
yeah you are right but this does not clear my point sir have you ever seen a person or knowing who is getting good salary in pakistan from its ACCA.and another thing that matters is that if you are only skilled and experienced then would you say that ACCA gives you good job in pakistan not internationally.
thanks
Nisar - 22 Nov 2006, 03:59 am
My friend is being paid 60,000 who is ACCA not CA after 3 years.
loverfellow - 22 Nov 2006, 05:49 pm
Oh well, thats great. quicker than CAs
junaid razzaq - 15 Dec 2006, 10:34 am
well now i am satisfied really that what ACCA is.i was just confused before this forum but say you surely tht now i will get more pay then this INSHALLAH.coz my parents expect a lot from me.
yasinACCA - 13 Jan 2007, 01:04 am
Asslam-o-Alikum
i m also a student of ACCA part 2 from karachi. i want to CA after ACCA becuz in pakistan there is a monopoly of ICAP. so this decision is right or not. ur pricious advise will greatly appriciated.
accaexamtips - 24 Sep 2008, 02:08 pm
tese days the market for acca s is being saturated especially in Pakistan so dont relly on it as the last step of a ladder, insted make it a mid point.
Defiantly go for ICAP or ICAEW CA, or CFA if you want to live in Pakistan
