Hi.

Having found i will be exempt for the first 3 exams for the ACCA, I now need to do the next set of exams.

I'm looking ot sit 1-2 exams in Dec 08. I haven't yet decided whether I will use a study provider or not. My question is do I need to sign up with a study provider such as Kaplan or BPP - or it possible i can study myself and succeed in the exam. Though its a different concept i have friends who have studied CFA themselves from the texts and passed, and the amount of content for each exams is 6-7 different topics!

I haven't read anywhere where people take these ACCA exams without going to classes? Also when is the latest i can sign up for these classes for Dec 08 exams or am i too late??

Any views opinons and responses welcomed.

Where are you based? Can't really recommend anything until we know which country you are in.

However it is possible to self study and not take any classes, you need to be disciplined and you may find you want something such as a revision course for the later papers but it certainly can be done.

If you look on the tuition providers websites they will have their timetables there. Most of the courses don't get booked up until after the results are out though.

Hi

i did AAT then started ACCA.

I went to the revision courses but not the taught courses. I found that when i go there everyone had been to the taught course and seemed to know everything.
I am definitely doing both courses this time as i found it impossible to self teach myself
but everyone is different.
Which two are you are you planning on sitting?
The tutor at BPP said people definitly benifit from the taught course more than the revision course as it guides you in the right direction.

I am based in the UK.

Im thinking of doing the Corporate Law module at least, looking to do the international version so it can give me broader scope as i would like to go and work abroad in the next few years. May also look to do the performance management or the taxation module as well. Is 3 months enough for revising for 2 exams in Dec if i started now! Gives me just over 3 months!?

I believe i can be disciplined to sit down and study, but maybe going in the right direction could be beneficial from a taught / revision class. In the grand scheme of things I could go to classes and pay up front myself but then get re imbursed by my company once i pass...?
