My average mark from my first nine papers is 68.5%. Does this mean I will get a First Class Degree after submitting the RAP? And does the RAP get marked and does this affect the classification?
osana - 19 Feb 2007, 02:45 pm
you will get first class degree and RAP is just approved or disapproved.

my friend didnt pass 2.6 paper only and will resit for it this june 2007 sitting but she still want to submit her RAP this coming closing date. can she do that?
sheba - 20 Feb 2007, 07:47 am
Thanks Osana and M.Amir......... I'm so happy to realise all my hard work has paid off! I know u can pass ACCA exams with marginal pass marks but this leads to low degree classifications for those who opted in. So now I'm :D
Nana: Tell ur mate not to worry. The RAP doesn't have to be done and submitted at the same time as the Part 2 exams. As long as you opt into the scheme before attempting 2.6 (which ur mate probably already has...), you have a 10 year time limit to submit the project (and it can be re-done as many times as needed to enable a pass).

To obtain a first class degree for bsc,wat is the average percentage required of ur previous exams?
sheba - 22 Feb 2007, 06:12 am
Hi Sunflower
The table on thier website had two columns; the one of the left hand side titled ACCA exams said 66% but the column on the right titled OBU mark said 70%. I wasn't sure myself so I asked all of you guys and am now confident u need 66 marks as ur avg from papers 1.1-2.6 inclusive, and the mark for the RAP does not affect it.

oh i see.i was exempted from part 1 of acca.
for 2.1 i scored 51% , 2.2 52% , 2.3 61%...is ther anyway i can get an average mark of above 66% to earn a first class degree if i work hard for my next 3 papers...
does that mean i shud be getting like above 80 % for my next 3 exams?

wat subjects r u studying nw sheba?
sheba - 23 Feb 2007, 06:34 am
Yea, u will have to get pretty high numbers, although Im not sure how many u will need and Im also not sure about what implications ur exeptions have. If I remember correctly I think it's only the average mark from the papers u actually sit that are counted, which means u will have to score really high marks because it's divided by six rather than nine.
But don't worry, the OBU Degree isn't the primary goal u are aiming towards and ACCA is worth more than that. Aim to sort out some fulltime practical experience soon and be well on your way to achieving membership!
I am doing 3.1 and 3.2 in June. I would like to have some more friends to do combined study with but nobody has responded................. :-(

Hey sheba,
Just a reminder, this >66% average for Part 1 + 2 condition is only applicable as of now. When OBU changes its require in relation to ACCA's change in syllabus, Part 1 results will NOT be counted and RAP is no longer just a PASS or FAIL. It will be graded and this and the average marks for Part TWO will be taken into considerations.
Not very sure on when this change is going to take place too. IIRC, it's gonna start in year 2008.

Hey hey what's this???????? This is news to me, not a reminder!!! Where can we get information about this change???

Hi Sheba,
That's what my friend told me.
Also, do check out November/December 2006 issue of the student accountant, Page 3, article name "DOING THE HONOURS"
In the article, John Woodley, OBU ACCA undergraduate programme director, said
"We are currently finalising the details of the revised BSc degree scheme. The structure will be similar to the current degree scheme - a student will have to pass all of the new ACCA Qualification Fundamentals level papers and pass an OBU project. The details of the new BSc scheme will be published in January 2007. This will include how exam results for the Fundamentals level papers as well as performance in the project will determine the class of degree awarded."
However, I couldn't find the site stating the new BSc scheme.
sheba - 25 Feb 2007, 06:39 am
I had a look at the article from Student Accountant Magazine and found the following paragraph informative:
"The OBU review panel also agreed proposed changes to the structure of the BSc in applied accounting degree programme. These changes will take effect for any student who wishes to complete the BSc degree after August 2008. Until then, the current degree scheme and current Research and Analysis Project requirements will remain in place."
Thanks for bringing the proposed changes to my attention! I will aim to do the RAP before Aug '08.

Yeah man. That's what I'm aiming too... Meaning have to pass part 2 by June 2008 sitting!
