F5 - How did it go???

   ( >> )

Hi, how was the F5 exam?

I think that because it is a new paper, quite weird questions came up. I did also found it quite lengthly. Is it just me or I simply didn't have a good time management? I realize that although I have studied every single bit of the syllabus, I had no idea what some questions were all about.

Well, will see in August how I did. Hope all of us passed.

well no amanda im with you...the paper really was lenghty and confusing...i mean a favorable idle time variance?? when i saw that i was like uve got to be kidding me...then i did some stupid mistakes in linear programming question...question 3...OH MY GOD...what was THATT?? lol Q4 ABC was ok...lol i really hope we all pass...

I thought the exam was far too long. Admittedly I spent a little too much tmie on the ABC question but still I ran out of time at the end even though i was hammering through the rest of it. There was a serious amount of cacculation required - especially in the variances question. It's annoying because i think if i'd had more time i could have answered everything. anyway, fingers crossed..
aimaad22 - 17 Jun 2008, 02:44 am
Exactly, time was the main problem.

I think I messed up quite badly. I couldnt reconcile the variances. Could anyone? Then I forgot my pencil and had to draw the graph with a pen, please tell me thats allowed! Then I couldnt calculate the shadow prices which means thats about 10 marks down the drain. Q3 was tricky although I did all of it. Q4 was a disaster, couldnt complete the first part and my answer to the third part was crazy. Didnt have time at all for the last part.

So thats basially around 25 marks down the drain and a very uncertain rest of the paper. Any chance of passing, I know thats a silly thing to ask, but Im depressed like hell.

I think everyone is disappointed with this paper. Read so many reviews so far, and none positive. So don't worry you're not alone
:)
I had issues about writing with pencil as well. I always thought that a graph needs to be drawn with pencil. After contacting ACCA just prior the exam, I was told that all answers should be written with ink, and this includes graphs, tables and so.on.
So I was then lucky, I think this part of the question may not have been marked otherwise.

i am well aware of ( performance management ) bez i passed CAT exams and in CAT paper 7,
hv all indication for the upcoming paper f5 in acca , but still i cant give my 60% to this monstrous paper in a examination hall, bez it quite confusing in the question of ABC costing i cant awake myself that what the examiner wants bez in 1st part there is digits invlove but examiner wants to convert these digits in theory procedure which is quite difficult, my linear programing que is right but still i niether hv ans for my result nor how i attempt this cruel examintaion method.
areebs - 18 Jun 2008, 12:12 pm
WHATTT...I DREW THE GRAPH WITH A PENCIL... :S and i also did the shadow price answer completely wrong im sure about it...this means I LOST FULL 25 MARKS.....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO im going to die man...AAAAAAAAAAA!!!
aimaad22 - 18 Jun 2008, 01:13 pm
Well, they say that the writing has to be with a pen, Im not sure the graph counts. The general world wide standard for drawing graphs is with a pencil, if anything its us who used a pen that should be worried.
Amanda - 18 Jun 2008, 01:55 pm
It's either the general world wide standard does not apply for ACCA under examination conditions, either the lady who gave me this information was incompetent which I doubt.
areebs - 19 Jun 2008, 01:18 am
ok so does this mean i get a ZERO for the graph i drew just cuz i used a PENCIL...dont u think its unfair... ill protest as DISCRIMINATION AGAINST PENCIL....LOL hahaha :)
Nattyneal - 19 Jun 2008, 10:31 am
I drew my graph in pencil too.
If they take the marks away from me for that ill propably only have 10% marks left.
The exam was way to confusing and time pressured and ill be lucky if i get 20%
not happy...
Amanda - 19 Jun 2008, 03:03 pm
Well, if I did not call ACCA I would have definitely used a pencil.
However, nothing was mentioned on the back of the examination docket, therefore I think that if would be extremely unfair if your answer is unmarked.
I will e-mail ACCA tomorrow, and as soon as I get reply, I will post it here.
starboy - 19 Jun 2008, 03:49 pm
hi guys . dont b panic i make a call to acca and they mention that nothing for worry on the pen or pencil issue . u can use ur best option during the exam , but acca also drop info that all the other contents of the paper must b solve with freeze ink, means use either black ink or blue..
Hope u all satisfied on the behalf of acca...
aimaad22 - 23 Jun 2008, 01:59 pm
Thanks for that mate, takes a bit of the tension away. Still going to be a really tight call as far as passing is concerned, Im afraid Im going to fail with 48 or 49! Remember each other in your prayers!

Hi

I thought it was just me that thought F5 was awful. There was to much to do and no where near enough time I found myself jumping around the paper and not giving anything the attention it needed. I have done CAT and Acca papers in the past with no problem but this was awful. I know this will be my first fail. So I'll be resitting it in December just hope it will be better than the last one.
starboy - 24 Jun 2008, 04:48 pm
Hahaa. nel ur not alone i m with u. same situation there . but i always hv a hope for miracle and this happen before when i passed my Tax paper T9 in CAT..SO may God help and shower His blessing on both of us and whole forum. Always think positive.... Sametime i am very confused bez before this i never taste the defeat . neither in my O level nor in my intermediate level nor in CAT exams. So i request u and all the forum users that plz share some part of ur prayers for myself.

I'm currently reading part D, I got the problem of confuse the meaning of text book too,

howevery I put it side, to read the whole section firs, then review the whole section, get understant it, and also get read the syllabus.
