Hi, can anybody tell me how difficult it is/ how much study time is involved if I take the F5 Perf Mgt and F6 UK Tax in December 08? I have a full time job and will be studying through distance learning.

These are my first ACCA exams as I have received exemptions for F1 through F4, because I already have a Master's Degree in Finance & Accounting.

Any useful info is much appreciated.

Hi

F6
I finished my last two CAT last June and I took my F6 UK tax in December it was meant to be as home study, but I had done my T9 in the June so it was basically revision and a bit more. You need to learn the pro formas and read the text book but you should find it OK

F5

F5 Syllabus Is not to bad
It was new in December the pass rate was low 34% I think . I thought the paper wasn't to bad (should of sat that one) But I have just took it in June and I found it awful, at first i thought it was just me but the more people I talk to they found it the same. There was too much to do in the time and you couldn't give the questions the attention they deserved .This will be my first fail , I know I will be resitting it in December.

Before the exam the tutor said for us to take F9 in December while F5 is still fresh in your head as they carry on from each other. So you might find this worth thinking about and do F5 and F9 together?

It looks like i will be resitting F5 and taking F9 in December now

As for working full time. You will have to make a study plan and stick to it.

Thats what I always try to do but with 2 children as well things do not always go to plan

I do not know what study guides you are going to use but make sure you get pocket notes as well and carry them around with you. Specially for F6 to learn the profromas etc . If you are stood in shopping queues etc there good to read. :D

Hi
If u have set ur mind to do take 2 papers then u wont have turbulence atall try to give atleast 2 hrs a day for ur studies and u must take a month off before ur exam or else it would be tuff to manage but it depends on the individual.

Regards

Abrar.
