Hi Hashim
I am in Glasgow and also looking for students of F1 - F3 exams to liaise with, discuss, get inspired etc. Although we are distant maybe if you want we can chat over the net etc , I don't have accounting background but getting into it for a number of reasons. I have been in property market for a few years and have built a portfolio but always felt that my accounting skills or lack of were holding me back. Now with the property market collapsing I feel accounting can give me the edge and knowledge to be better at financial business planning as well as giving me some security to earn a decent wage if I needed to.
I am 38 and hope this is not going to be a big barrier. I hope to compensate by using my previous business experience in the market place. What are your reasons and plans? How do you feel about the syllabus so far? Have you booked any exams yet?
Cheers
Sarmed.
PS: If there is anyone in Glasgow or near abouts, please do contact.

well.. i just started studying acca.. i do not have any background of accounts... this is my first try..
in mature studies you need to pass f3 and f2 before you can sit in f1..
i have booked the exams (in december 2008)
my reason of joining the acca is that i have done masters in IS and was free and my brother helps me out as he is CA and my plans are just to study as much as i could and in future i am not thinking to work for anyone.. but may be i would start my own business regardless of its relations to accountings.. :)
hope to talk to you again.
regards

hey ramesh age is not a problem.....
go to an institute that provides acca tuitions ...get the form...fill it up...
then make payment either by draft or by credit card...send it through courier...recommended dhl...it will reach the acca glasgow office in 2 days...then wait for at least 1 month.... in the mean time u can track ure application using the NUMBER GIVEN ON YOUR INITIAL REGISTRATION FORM.. online...and u will get to know ure application's status........ within 6 week u will get ure welcome pack..and then join an institute and get started...
there is quite a difference when u r doing accounts in practical life and when u do it in theory....i mean tats what have heard ppl say
if u r an MSER STUDENT then u will have to finish ure f2 and f3 exams before 31jan to sit for the further papers in june 2009..
