I've use BPP text book & FTC kit for last
F7 june exams (fail 46 marks)
what's your recommendations???

I did BPP F5 homestudy and got 70%. Overall I am very pleased with BPP, although their admin leaves somewhat to be desired.

I am looking to book a distance learning course for the F4. I am not too sure which provider to go with - BPP or FTC Kaplan?
So far I have passed F1, F2 and F3 using BPP distnance learning packages. I was pleased with their text books but I did not use the service of contacting tuitors. Can anyone please advise whether BPP or Kaplan would be better to study F4 distance learning.
Many thanks :D

I didn't think they had launched their distance learning package yet? What will you get in GTG distance learning pack?

How about F5? Would I be able to pass if I take home study or for this paper is best to take classroom course?

My problems with F7 were 2 basic ones: wrong study material selected (GTG) + less time devoted (2 weeks). It was too late for me to realise about the quality of the textbook and revision kit (which is btw is rip-off from past exams word-to-word) so the only alterbative I had was opentution. To my unfortune they only did material to cover Group accounting (Goodwill, etc). But still their material was way beter to read trhough and understand than GTG's comic book.
I also used electronic lessons from
iasplus.com for accounting standards - download them to have a quick recap of all the accounting standards - quite helpful, I'd say to get a general picture.
F7 is a quite special paper with several big areas it focuses, so if you do enough practice for each of them, you could score more than merely passing mark (which was for me , 50)
More time, good study + practice books (BPP, opentution), as well as other resources (iasplus.com)

i have found, after two years using bpp, that they have more errors in their text (than ftc)... but their revision books are very thorough !!!

for F4, i think BPP would be the best option
cuz i was studying from Kaplan book for june 08 attempt
but when exams came near i came to know that large number of points were missing from the FTC or Kaplan book
so i didn't sit in the exam
waste of money & time
FTC in good but not for F4

And also it isn't good for
f7 (really I do for the last june exame & it was waste of time)

for F5 FTC is good
me passed F5 by studying at home with FTC book & revision kit
but on ly with 54 marks

the problem with BPP is that they have too many pages & i dunt have enough time to read them fully

then do like me
read the main points & then to focuse on the chapter roundup & quick quiz
then to carfuly studing every question on the rivision kit (very important)

Im studying F7, 8 and 9. Im going to purchase the kits, I wanted to ask does it make any difference which ones I get? I mean both, BPP and FTC have the same past papers dont they? What would you guys recommend?
lonely soul - 19 Sep 2008, 04:12 am
yeah they do have same past papers but bpp has their own good questions
well each one likes different sources, if it comes to me, i prefer bpp coz they are platinum awarded so they r the best

I agree with lonely soul
also I can add that BPP answers are the same as the examiners way & format more than FTC (I confused with it on F7 kit)

Thanks guys, Ill probably get BPP then. My own experience of them has been better than FTC. They explain better.

I bought it but I found that they are still use
the old way & old terminology of the IAS1 & IFRS 3 although there are a lot of changes regarding those two revised standards
can any one check with me about this issue?? it's really a big disaster , how we can pass with those very bad errors
