I am a first year Accounting and Finance undergraduate of Bristol Business School, UK. The reason why I posted this topic is to get a help/ guidance on what subject I should take next year. Currently, I am confused as to choose between Business Law (BL) and Market Analysis for Private Investor (MAPI). Details of the subjects are attached below:
Business Law:
The module aims to introduce students to the English Legal System and Law particularly contract, tort and company law. It also aims to enable students to understand and recognise the nature of legal liability; the way duties and rights arise; as well as to place the study of law in its social economic and commercial context. This course provides students with the practice of solving problems with a legal element and to lay a foundation for the later study and use of law. It also enables students to develop their communication and research prowess.
Market Analysis for Private Investors:
Providing an overview of the role, structure and operations of financial markets from both domestic and global perspectives, this course develops an understanding of the sources of financial analysis and the role of financial information in investment analysis.
Covering the regulatory framework governing the production of financial information, the course equips students with the necessary knowledge and understanding to be able to interpret financial information and apply this to private investment decisions. The impact of globalisation and the implications of access to global funds and markets are also explored, with an emphasis on understanding the implications of globalisation on investment decisions.
The dilemma comes as I am interested to take MAPI instead of BL. However, after considering some factors and consultation from close family members, they suggest that it’s better for me to take law and work in an auditing line in the future.
Can anyone feel free to respond and provide some feedback in assisting me with this? I would also like to know, if possible where exactly will Business Law lead me, and where will MAPI lead me in developing my future career as I am still flexible with what I would want to do in the future.
I would really appreciate if anyone could get me out of this dilemma. Thank you in advance I wish.
