Debsea - 11 Dec 2007, 04:10 am
I didn't think it went too badly which then makes me worry!
Although I would like to know exactly what the term pristine capitalism and social contractarian mean?!? Kinda made that bit up.
How do you think you did?
lowlow - 14 Dec 2007, 08:48 pm
in my exam i define PC as the ppl 1st priority is making profit with onli fulfill minimum obligation to stakeholders
and for SC i define as 1st priority of them is protect the enviroment and encourage every co. should deal with their environmental footprint :P
rluitel - 15 Dec 2007, 07:16 am

For pristine capitalist, I wrote something like yours. For Social Contractarian, I though its has the same meaning of Proponent of Social Contract, i.e these people propose that there is a contractual obligation between the corporate and the wider society its belong to, by implement the stadium project the club found in breach of this contractual obligation...

Hi, you're right, you never know with these people... [markers :) ]. As far as I can hear from people, most of them did very well. BUT this may unfortunately mean that the marking scheme will be relatively strict. Obviously they don't want everyone to pass!
paulmat555 - 10 Jan 2008, 02:25 pm
hi there... awaiting p1 results... exam was kinda ok... did finish on time... but u never know the results how they come.... often its the ones u perform well that u end up in a disaster... so no more fancy words.... fingers crossed....

Since you guys have given P1 papers now how about you give advice to the people going to attempt it on how to go about studying it.. like which chapters to concentrate most on and which study text to go for.. Bpp or Ftc..
Pawel - 18 Feb 2008, 07:41 am
I did a taught course in Warsaw, Poland (tutor: E&Y) which I can recommend. They provided excellent studying materials (90 pages folder, which perfectly covered what was required at the exam). I studied the folder plus the revision kit by FTC. I have not even started reading the study text - it really was not necessary.

Don't worry this paper was very very very easy. I think this time the pass rate would be over 90%.

P1 does not seem a big deal to me. I have already read the study text once. All I have to do is to revise it now, concentrating on exam specific areas, and attempt a few questions from Pilot Paer and/or Dec, 2007 paper. P1 is like delicious piece of Cheese on top of a PIzza. Hehehehee hehe.
mystery - 11 Apr 2008, 02:06 pm

omers19 - 13 Apr 2008, 12:56 pm
see nothing is impossible !! ...
just bost up your processor and make it through !!
why everyone in ACCA has the problem of memorzing [:(] including me :@
Muhammad Amir - 13 Apr 2008, 01:31 pm
This memorizing or cramming problem will remain for foreseeable future in us, because we are Non-English people and so in order to write something in our exam scripts we need to exercise some rote learning approach.

Muhammad Amir

I am Using BPP Study Text and FTC Revision Kit. When some thing seems difficult to you try to figure out obviously easy things within that. e.g there are at least 10% to 15% topics in P1 which are overlapping with F8 Syllabus, so if you have cleared F8 or if you are studying F8 for the same session you can mark these topics as "No problem Area of syllabus". Now come to risk assessment/analysis and risk management area. This represents approx. 20% to 25 % of the syllabus. Truly speaking this is just common sense you read it as a story and you will understand every bit of it and enjoy reading it. so adding these two %ages we come to know that 40 % area is real cheese (At least for me). I have also worked in a public limited listed company 4 years back therefore in addition to above syllabus, I am also familiar with corporate governance area of the syllabus because I have practically seen how corporate governance is implemented. U r welcome for any further questions/discussion
Muhammad Amir - 18 Apr 2008, 05:19 pm
Thanks Soul Hunter,
Your analyses in percentages are at least able to put some confidence in me.

Muhammad Amir

hmmm mighty helpful of you and what insight do you have to give regarding the ethics portion?

Without going into syllabus details i can just say that I believe Ethics is the second most important area of syllabus. The hierarchy of importance is like this
1. Corporate Governance
2. Ethics (all type Professional/Business etc.)
3. Risk Management (Identification/Assessment/Mitigation erc.)
4. Internal Control.
So you need to be easy with Corporate Governance and Ethics portion as the analysis of dec, 2007 paper and pilot papers reveal their importance in terms that maximum marks (65 % roughly) wil be based on these two areas.

thanks pardner that was mighty helpful of you :) so how are prep comming along of P1? how do you remember all the info in the text book? :s
