Did anyone struggle with identifying the split on the b/f reserves and translation gains/losses @ 2007 in order to calculate the corresponding posting amounts for 2008?

Its playing on my mind.....

even if someone would disagree that would be great!!!!!!! Please?

I just fuddled around with it, as I was lost without the P/L statement. so I can't do the exchange difference oh well...

This has come up on another forum and the conclusion is that you didn't need to find the previous years profit.

...yep thanks for keeping me sane, I wouldnt have minded if the FX gain/losses and reseves normally all gel together on the financial statement of position.........
but all the examples I've seen would indicate the FX transaltion diffs would have to be dumped into the 'other components of equity' (as an IFRS student)

but the only bit you could put in is the FX g/l on the Goodwill since aqn...........

total nightmare

huh????

just read bluewednesdays response

now I'm totally lost.....!!!!!

this means everything- FXs and ave rates- get put together into retained reserves.......... eh? surely not?
asimshah007 - 12 Jun 2008, 09:51 am
I had only taken the figures what were given in balance sheet and transalated them to required Forex rate.

thats it, didnt bothered to go into details of it.
mishann - 12 Jun 2008, 10:19 am
yes so did I.......... but there was nothing else to do but this.... bc the detail was missing
Other equity component Retained reserves
should've been - 2007 balance with FX closing rate = translation g/l plus profit at ave rate
2008 the same

(and obviously the FX Share capital movement from the goodwill together with all the closing rate assets and liabs would have produced an exact match for the above)

I've either missed something fundamental per allowed format...... or maybe ... I just missed something on the paper.......

Its really bugging me, you know?
asimshah007 - 12 Jun 2008, 11:19 am
for instance even if you have missed something how much will cost..?? just couple of marks
thats it not more than that whole 35 marks were not allocated only for the translation thing.

no prob will get 30/35, more than enough.

thanks for the supoort

but I wasted time searching for information... thats whats annoying.....
