Dear All,
I am writing to express my disappointment on accountancy jobs market.
Just a short description of my qualifications:
masters degree in finance, ACCA student part 2 (doing last tree subjects in part 2 : 2.1, 2.4 and 2.6), two years strong experience in audit/accountancy/financial analysis in Poland in small practice, last two years experience in hedge and traditional fund accounting in international company in Dublin.
I am 29, I am highly motivated person, very ambitious and I quickly develop my skills. I was/am/ recognized as one of the best accountants/employees in both companies I worked for and I am sure I will be the best in the future companies as well.
My problem is as follows:
I would like to come back to commercial accountancy and I think audit would be the best for me, I really enjoyed the work in the past and I have strong analytical skills and passion what is really important in my opinion. However I found it very difficult to change the career path from funds to audit. I must admit that I had opportunity to cooperate with young auditors from 'big 4' and I do not understand why people, without strong knowledge of legislation and quite poor time management skills and poor work organization performed in my company can have this job and I do not have even a chance to get one because I have funds background.
How about the industry positions? I discovered that job offers I can apply for are very very average and I need years of experience to get really interesting offer. I do not want to belong to the group of people who are doing accounts payable for 3 years and accounts receivable for another 3, which obviously gives you 6 years experience in accountancy. And again-I have background in fund accounting and no one is looking at my previous experience in audit.
How about people who are doing big progress in short time and love challenges? They can be so precious for the company...
Does anyone have any idea how to break stereotypes?
If you know anybody who is looking for person like me in accountancy/audit PLEASE let me know...
