Undervalued - Seeking advice relating to current position

Is there anyone who can please share experience and/or advice relating to working in a position which they feel is not valued from a remuneration and job description point of view.

Currently my responsbilities inlude:
Quarterly management accounts and related agreements
Statutory accounts to review
All daily transactional work, daily and monthly bank reconciliations
Systems analysis, development and testing
HMRC returns
Liaising with internal and external auditors

I have passed ACCA part 1 and have over 5 years accounting experience. I work in Financial Services in Sussex, current remuneration cira 21k job description is vague and non specific with title of 'general finance assitant'.

I have spoken to my manager who has reviewed salaries for all Finance staff, my position increased by 1k to the above. He has consulted with the Finance team leader and decided job description will not be changed.

I am close to handing in my notice but feel I have contributed so much to the accounting and system procedures, in addition to enjoying a lot of the work and nature of the company, that i do not want to leave. I'm feeling pressured into leaving because of the lack of recognition of the contribution the work i carry out makes. There are other issues mind you, such as an environment where other finance staff socialise for long periods of time while i'm trying to work in a professional manner.

I have attended a couple of interviews recently and have had positive feedback, but none of the positions were right.

I am thinking about approaching HR but am unsure.

Apologies if some of the above is a bit incoherent, i'm in a hurry to get out of the door!!

Advise greatly appreciated.
