I downloaded it yesterday and its incredibly fast to search items.How is it so fast? Why windows search takes xx times more than Google Desktop ?

I don't know the reason but GD is best for searching in windows pc.

The reason is that Google Desktop index all the files when your system has some unused resources.And when you search with Google Desktop then it shows already indexed files.It makes it faster then Windows search because it searches live.

Google Desktop software is fast in searching your documents because its sole purpose is to sniff and index new documents.While windows search is not active all the time so it has to search from 0 point.
