Hey everyone,

I failed 3.1 by just a few marks and am planning to retake it. But before I make the comittment I want to ask all u guys out there your views on 3.3 Performance Management. Some people say it's a 'nice n easy' paper (for the well-prepard candidate). What do you all think?

Could u also please tell me what u think of the 3.3 Question Paper format and do the questions follow the same pattern each time round (like in 3.1 all the Q1s each term are on the same topic, all the Q2s are on the same topic etc.)

The other paper I am doing is 3.2

Thanks!

I think 3.3 is easier to pass i had not said that it is the easiest paper but when comparing with other optional papers it seems to every one that it is easier to pass as evedant by it's passing ratio.....If ACCA is your first qualification and you still have lot to be done in future then i think don't bother about 3.1 or 3.2 choice because if you completed you ACCA in resonable time then you still have a chance to allow your time in CIMA and others tooo..............my frank suggestion to you is that go and take the advantage to pass comparably easier paper and then you will invest and devote yourself in other demanding qualifications such as CFA,CIA,CMA and others

Thanks, M. Amir. I think you are absolutely right in that we should go for the 'easiest' option for the sake of passing exams (and since I dont plan to further my career into auditing). So 3.3........... definitely IA. But I will have to do 3.2 because I will be required to prepare tax comps in the practice where I hope to work.

Dear i think Advance taxation will be a good choice but i don't know your locality so i am going to tell you something....... All the Companies have their different Tax Consultants and they prepare Tax computations on behalf of their client i saw lot of students are bother about their tax and law variants and they incorporate their bothering with their future....i tell you this is all about misconceptions whether you did you ACCA with UK,PK or others it will not be a value addition in your CV.....bother about something Value added to your CV ............ If you are very much intrested in Taxation and want to establish your tax consultancy business it eill be more beneficial for you go and attempt Adv Taxation otherwise it eill be use less why no go for Business information management

I am not concerend about 3.2 in my post as I know that I want to do it and I already have a job and know what is required of me. But if anybody has anything to say about thre 3.3 Perfomance Management's Qs paper format and style, I would love to know what you have to say about it. I am not going to do 3.4 because I cannot get my head round the complexities involved in Information Systems and didn't enjoy 2.1 at all.

A Very Simple choice go for 3.3 it's not worth making choice to go for 3.4 because if you fail to pass it then you will have to sit for very new paper in next attempt so i think there is only one option left which is performance mgmt go for it because in numeric paper you can assess whether you will pass or not this time because it's all about your practice and your 2.4 experiance....

Yea thanks........... I found 2.4 nice and am happy with the stuff in the syllabus so I hope I make the right choice by doing 3.3. But I still haven't bought the textbook! One of these days hopefully. Btw what papers are you doing, Amir?

hi sheba and m amir......... u wanted to know about the format and the questions for paper 3.3.......section A as u may well know has two compulsory questions which are worth 60 marks in total.......they come from decesion making, budgeting and performance appraisal part of the syllabus.....section b usually covers other areas and has one total theory question.....other two are usually 15 marks computational and 5 theoretical.......questions can be from anywhere in the syllabus.....
Last sitting had a decesion making and transfer pricing question in section A...... Tp is unlikely to be re-examined..... decesion making though is a favorite topic......performance appraisal is important...... learning curve theory and investment appraisal can be examined too.......
the syllabus is very extensive......keep your focus on and practice important areas like DM, perf App. Solve the kits thoroughly...... look up the 40 marks questions in the bpp kit and you will have a pretty good idea of what to expect in section A..... section B is anybody's guess......
hope this was helpful.....good luck

well my advice will be to go for 3.1 again ..i was lil shocked to see that u failed 3.1 as i m sure u wer hoping for a 1st class degree which means u did scored really high on part1 and 2 papers..

the reasons.

u already done 3.1 so u know most of the stuff.

its alot more useful in work environment .

it will help u alot in P1 once u get to that stage.

and u can always work as an auditor , so the routes r open.

thanks
