asking help from all Seniors! to decide between CAT and CMA

Iam calling the seniors in the forum or anyone with experience to do with the above issue.

I have completed A levels with Economics twenty years ago! and Iam working as an unqualified accountant and would like to take either CAT or CMA.Which among the two is less ardous and doesnt need a lot of effort as I dont have time to study so much.

by the way the company are willing to pay for the CMA fees but it seems to be too much strenous;I have seen the test papers . with CAT I will need to pay for my self but dont mind so long as its less ardous.

thanks in advance. :)

Dear Nabeel,

CMA(Certified Management Accountant) from IMA(Institute Of Management Accountants-USA) it is USA based Qualification which speciliazes you in Management Accounting Techniques i was wondered by the question asked by MR Saleem because there is no match between CAT and CMA, where CAT is a Beginners qualification and a gateway to accountancy whereas, CMA is highly prestigeous qualification with specific course contents in modern world Management Accountancy.

Weblink of IMA is http://www.imanet.org/

Hi
natasha_kaka

I have done CAT,knowing almost noting about Accounting, took around 18 months, cant say its tough, as far as you find it intersting, its easy, first four Papers of CAT, If you make ur basics strong here, try to score good, focus on basics, and it al seems easy as in later subjects u'll find same topics with a bit of more detail,Including ACCA, mind though I am doing ACCA,have not done it yet, But I came in this field with no big knowldge of Accountancy, doing HSSC in science.

A bit of hard work, interest makes is more easy, more sensible....and dont know much abt CMA, some useful information is there already in the post.

( Just an advice, might not be completely right, do consider more advices)

natasha_kaka,

I guess It will be nice if you start it around June, or may be before June, obviously u wouldnt be aiming giving Exams this June. First 4 papers can be given as CBE...Computer Based,in this case u dont need to wait for June or December exams, but these are important ones,do give some time to them. The others are Paper Based, so you have to give them in either June or December, total 10 papers,1 optional making it 9,so in total 9 papers. Just depends on the college u are looking to study, when is there next intake, and thats it. I started in January, u can start in June or July or may be now, so that you can attempt some papers based in December, but dont panic,Ur college will guide you.
