hi iam an ACCA professional level student,recently i had applied in the big3 audit firms in karachi, namely FRSH,KPMG and MYASO.i came to know through a reliable source in FRSH that siday hyder is not recruiting ACCAs this time.in KPMG i was told in the interview that first pass all your papers then we will hire you.and i have come to known that KPMG has only hired ACCA affiliates,no ACCA student has been hiered.in MYASCO i got the same reply that we have changed our policy and from now on we only recruit ACCA Affiliates who are registered with the ICAP.
im very much tensed, whether il be inducted on the big3s..can some one tell me the reason of such a change in policy of these firms.i have also herd that Anjum Asim has also made such a policy, as my friends freind who works in Anjum asim told, that partners has told not to give forms to ACCA students but only to ACCA affiliates.
iam really very tensed if ACCA students will not be inducted where will they go..

I think the current strict recruitment policies by all good firms is because of numerous flow to the field(specially in ACCA) and in my opinion this policy is good for profession in a way that in past all ACCA students including those who have their clear future plans in industry and investment sector(not in profession) also try to join BIG-4 firms due to un-apprehended reasons. Thus, they reserve a seat of someone who have a clear plan to join profession in future and not only they waste their and Firm's time but also an increased breach of contract by ACCA students compelled all big firms to revise their recruitment policy for ACCA students, for example if an ACCA student has been recruited by a Big-4 firm and after 6 months of his recruitment he recieved an attractive job offer then he left the firm and this costs too much to firm. Now they are only recruiting those students who have clear plan to build their future in Profession(i.e. Audit) and therefore they have imposed a restriction that if you have a clear plan to do CA then you can be recruited.

i totally agree with you brother Amir.but one of my classmates who has been working in FRSH for one and half year now, recently told me that Mr. pervaiz muslim the HR partner has ordered not to forward him the forms of students who have beard.i dont know how much this is true but is what he told me.do you have any knowledge about the beard thing in FRSH.
what do you have to say or know about such actions and opinons of one of the BIG4s.

I wonder if the firms are gonna impose so much restrictions so how on earth would we be able to complete our ACCA PER ? As there are too many restrictions almost everywhere.

You are absolutely right that one of the partner of FRSH has imposed this restriction(i.e. Beard), In my opinion you should refrain yourself from disclosing the exact name of a particular person(due to some confidentiality reasons). I also have beard but i will still apply in FRSH.



No, there is a huge gap between the joining rate and the passing rate, you can count the number of ACCA Pakistan-Affiliates from Student Accountanct Magazine and there can be on an average 250 Affialiates per session(Just in my opinion because i have never counted them).

dont you think that ACCA students should come onto a single platform and complian about such acts of the Big4s to ACCA.beacuse i have tried to complain to the ACCA karachi office individually but Mr.students Affairs officer was unwilling to accept that Big4s have adopted a policy to recruit ACCA Affiliates and about the beard restriction in FRSH.

You are right that we should unite ourselves on one platform not only for the behavior of Big Firms but also we need to do something to secure a Public Practice License from Pakistani Givernment(i.e. AGP and SECP).

As far as your complian to Karachi Office is concerned I would assure you that they will not do anything for you, so don't waste your time in these activities. Their Sleepy role is the biggest hurdle in the way of ACCAs Marketability and Recognition; Although, Number of Students of ACCA at Pakistan Level are increasing but the quality of profession is decreasing day by day.
