Please help to pass F4 Reply with quote
Hello everybody

Maybe somebody can advise how to pass F4 GLOBAL because currently I do not know what to do. Here is my story:
I prepared the F4 exam first time in Dec 2007 with books from Kaplan and even took classes with a tuition provider who, at that time, gave me good tips and learnings . Unfortunately due to a lot of travelling I didn't have time to cover the entire syllabus so obviously I failed the exam with 45 marks. My next attempt was in June 2009 with the same materials (books and notes from classes) from 2007. This time I allocated more time for preparation, during studying I even checked Internet for additional information whenever the topics were not clear for me. Therefore with more energy invested in preparation and using the methodology learned during the classes I was thinking that passing F4 wouldn't be a problem. You can imagine my disappointment when I got the results: 37 marks. The worst is that when I was checking the official answers on ACCA website I was completely surprised to see that they contain information and law cases I didn't even hear about.

Now before applying for December exam session could somebody help me with some advises/tips how to prepare to pass the exam. Besides official answers I read made me wonder that either my learning materials are obsolete and/or not complete either ACCA expects us to be lawyers. What do you think?

Many, many thanks in advance for any useful answers.

Hi, you must use up to date materials and cover the whole syllabus. I bought Home study plus from BPP and I kinda like it Smile I don't know will I pass it thought as I have too many things going on in my life and I'm unable to put the whole 100% into studying F4. But if you do study thoroughly you will pass.

Having up-to-date material can make a difference. Also you could be experiencing difficulties in essay writing skills? It is very important for not just understanding the topic but also to be able to express it. Don't forget that the examiner has limited time to mark your paper so it has to be written clear and to the point.
I know what you're saying though, it's frustrating to be struggling with a non-accounting subject so much.
